The Delete Online Predators Act (DOPA), would—among other things—require schools and public libraries to bar children from accessing social networking sites. As of July 2006, the Act passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 410-15. As of January 2007, it appears as if the bill, at least in its current form, is dead legislation.
