The Independent Network or INet is an alternative and parallel system to the current DNS based Internet system (managed by ICANN) that controls Internet protocol assignment and traffic regulation. The idea for INet comes from British academic David Harrison and is articulated in the advocacy paper, The Independent Network: An Alternative to the Internet.
