The article Surfing the INTERNET appeared in the University of Minnesota's library bulletin in 1992 and is considered to be the first time the phrase surfing was used to describe the practice of viewing web pages on the World Wide Web. The article was penned by Jean Armour Polly (aka Net-mom), a librarian at the time.
